A tribute to a game I only unfortunatly began playing a few weeks ago. I regret waiting as long as I did, although I really only have myself to blame for that.

*SPOILER ALERT*

This was one of the more prominant momments of the game that stuck on my mind. Overall, the fate of Toroko was very tragic and I felt compelled to draw this almost immediately after I finished the game. On my first play-through I also failed to save Curely, which made me feel even more miserable about how things were going. Frankly, I never forgave Barlog for feeding the red flower to Toroko.

For the art for this picture I wanted to come closer to the original art in the game, thus the use of solid colors and minimal outlines, although I did go overboard with the background a bit if only to provide a similar feel of detail from the game itself.

For free-ware, Cave Story is incredibly robust and brought back some of what I enjoyd of games in the first place. There is not enough I can say about this game, rather than suggest to try it yourself if you already havn't (particularly if you're a fan of Metroid or Castlevania).

While I have heard rumor of a PSP version comming out, I'd rather see this ported to the DS or even the GBA, as I think they're much more fitting homes for such a title.
